The present condition of life of theDSC_5385 poor and the rich in the US has proven that democracy and capitalism do not work. On the other hand, capitalism and apartheid work very well.

Democracy – government by the people, direct or representative – America does not have this.Options-Decisions-Choices

Capitalism – private wealth and profit-making, super-rich, 1%, oppression and exploitation – America has this.

Apartheid – racial segregation, white oppression and exploitation – America has this.

IMG_1234Whatever the founding fathers of America meant or hoped for in 1776 is not what we have in 2015.

Our schools, health care, prisons, infrastructure, institutions are private and managed by the for-profit capitalist system.

IMG_2682Our manufacturing jobs are sent overseas to increase profits for capitalists.

Our country is divided along racial colour lines.

White rules. All others get out or beg.

Our intellectuals are disillusioned and our universities are silent.

H13-22 NecrosisOur media is a propaganda machine and owned by the 1%.

Our military is not here to protect our homeland, our borders, but to conquer the world while we live in fear and beg for food and medicine.

Our most important industry is selling guns and drones to anyone in America or globally who has a $.

Crossman co2 air pistolOur democratically elected men and women in congress, state and city are poor on election day but rich the next day.

Our rich white 1% for-profit capitalist oppressors and exploiters choose the candidates and pay for them to be elected.DSCN7910

If this is democracy, what is apartheid?

For hundreds of years the white people of the world oppressed and exploited Asia, AgreementAfrica and South America. Western Europe and the United States built empires on the backs and blood of Asians and Africans.

Indians speak English and enjoy afternoon tea. Philippinoes speak Spanish. Africans speak English, Spanish, Portuguese, German, Dutch, French. In Central and South America they got Portuguese and Spanish.

They all got a new religion to civilize them. Queen Victoria owned IMG_0318Kenya, and she gave Mt. Kilimanjaro to the Germans who owned Tanganyika because they did not own a mountain.

Later, Europe and America did not have oil, so they annexed the Middle East.

Well, the world is changing. The Africans are moving north to every country in Europe. They have very little left in their countries. They are going where the riches are. Africans speak every European language and know their customs. They want jobs, education, health care and equality.

Options-Decisions-ChoicesThe Central and South Americans are moving north to the big bad US of A against all odds especially the language barrier. More power to them. North is where the goods are!

And then we have the kidnapped Africans in the US, better known as slaves. Unfortunately, they can’t move north or south. This is their homeland, just as it is the homeland of their former owners – slave owners that is.

The white imperialists / colonialists who oppressed and exploited three continents for hundreds of years are now facing a dilemma. the journeyThe black, brown, pink, green, red, yellow people of the southern world want their piece of the pie. It is pay back time.

The white people are fighting to the death. They are good at stealing but not at sharing.

Well, at least imperialism / colonialism are over. We still have oppression, exploitation and apartheid left in the white world and in America we can add the confederate flag.

Jesus said: Love thy neighbour as thyself. Obraz 100

Nine people died because of the colour of their skin. God gave us pigmentation, so how can we be guilty of, or responsible for, our gift from God?

Churches used to be sanctuaries where protection from evil or hunger was guaranteed.

Just imagine, but it’s hard to imagine, that he came to church with the premeditated plan to kill black people. Also, this kind of terrorism makes one unsafe and afraid to be “free’ in this country.

Premeditated, cold-blooded, heartless, an act of terrorism, a crime without reason, how can anyone shoot people in a church, in prayer, in the act of serving God?praying_on_bible_red

There is so much hate, racism, prejudice, persecution and oppression in this country that one wonders how America fell to the bottom of hell in less than 400 years.

We, in this land of immigrants and kidnapped slaves, don’t have to love each other (although Jesus did say to love your neighbour as yourself), but can’t we show tolerance and respect for each other? Can’t we accept the neighbour who is different? God’s creation all!

Nine neighbours, friends, colleagues, worshippers, were buried this week because of their colour. That’s a sad commentary on a civilized society in the 21st Century. But then again, this country was built on racism and slave labour.

praying-hands-PencilThe white supremacists in the south lost their slave labour, and they cannot forgive those laws that denied them those rights. Also, they are not about to relinquish their confederate flag and their rights to apartheid.

These good Christians believe in racism, hate, prejudice, bigotry… Amen.

Wonder how Jesus feels about their beliefs.

From a historical point of view, and for centuries now, IMG_0318the people of Africa have been persecuted, enslaved, colonialized, divided by tribe and conquered, and their lands raped and plundered of every bit of natural resources.

Who committed these crimes? The white European imperialists and colonializers!

The enslaved Africans that were kidnapped and shipped to America have been persecuted as old as America is. No American laws on paper have saved them or changed their lives.DSC02822

White supremacist institutional racism and prejudice is so ingrained in our society that it is almost “normal” for white people / law enforcement to shoot black people without a second thought.

What we are seeing today- the massacre of black people by white supremacists – is nothing new. This has been going on – always.

IMG_0491What is new is the fact that social media has exposed this crime against black people and the citizens in American – and the globe – can no longer deny these crimes when they are recorded and posted for the world to bear witness.

And who are committing these crimes? The white supremacist immigrants from Europe who imperialized and colonialized Africa!

P1020449Now suddenly we have a new slogan: Black Lives Matter! Well, really! Since when did black lives matter? This is a meaningless phrase!

The same “white is superior” mentally that persecuted and plundered the African Continent (and persecuted the Jews and are now slaughtering Muslims) is still at work here on American soil. flagAnd it will be a long time before “Black Lives Matter” on American soil.

And you Africans on American soil, if you believe that meaningless slogan about black lives matter, then you are more gullible than I thought.

Go read Malcolm X.

See the PA first, if she thinks anything is wrong you’ll get to see the doctor. Oh! She’ll give you a prescription for pain killers, even if you don’t need it.Antique pharmacy

Has American health care and the medical profession plummeted to a new low? The first time this happened, I was left with a crippled hand. The second time I was given a month’s supply of pain killers that addicts kill for. This is the third time and I have some questions.

A Physician’s Assistant is called a PA.

First PA: A year ago I broke my hand. The orthopedic surgeon fixed up the bones and told the PA to put the cast on my hand. The caste was on too tight. They saw me weekly but did nothing. After six weeks of suffering with blue and swollen fingers I now have a crippled hand.

Second PA: Some weeks ago, I woke up with back pain and unable to move my legs. Could not get out DSC_5385of bed or walk. The ambulance took me to the ER. A few days later my doctor sent me to a spine specialist for an evaluation. At the appointment I did not see the specialist, but the PA interviewed me. She sent a prescription (signed by my unknown doctor) to a pharmacy in another state that sent me a month’s supply of pain killers which arrived at my home via UPS. Each pill contained 825 ml of Iboprofen and 26 ml of something else. I threw them out.

[Why didn’t they give me the prescription to change at my local pharmacy?] Yikes!

Third PA: Forty-one years ago I broke my knee in a car accident. It was operated on, healed well and never gave me a problem. This past winter it has been painful to the point of sleepless nights and limping days. I went to the doctor. He ordered an orthopedic evaluation and told me to go to the same group of swindlers as above (second PA).

I called for an appointment and was told that the first visit was with a PA and then I will see the doctor on a follow-up visit. Ihelp called my doctor and asked him to recommend another specialist. He did. I called the second specialist he recommended and was told that they only accept “New Injuries”. Upon enquiries, I found out that “new injuries” and billing the insurance companies are profitable, whereas 41 year old injuries were not “treated” at their office.

The question is: How does one get to see a specialist or any doctor without going to or through the PA? This is a new experience for me. Is this the new trend in medicine? Trying to see a spine or knee doctor is like trying to get an appointment with the President or the Queen of England.DSC_5394

Who are these doctors anyway? And what is the function of the PA? I never realized that PAs can diagnose spinal problems or determine how to fix a knee gone old and arthritic.

In England GPs still make house calls.

In America, the PAs interview the patients, the doctors sign prescriptions not knowing what’s wrong with the patient, the prescriptions go to another part of the country to be filled and 2013-01-28_09-16-34_256then delivered by post. The insurance gets billed and the patient continues to suffer not knowing what’s wrong with her spine or knee, but has tons of pain killers to put her to sleep.

Someone out there please help me. I need to know how the new doctor / patient / American medicine relationship work.

The Other Side of Teaching

Evelyn Uddin-Khan

Xlibris, 424 pages, (paperback) $23.99, 9781499077940

(Reviewed: April 2015)

Not long ago, teachers commanded respect from students, parents and society in general. stick-boy-and-girlToday, though, they are often punching bags for those same groups, blamed for America’s failing education system.

Evelyn Uddin-Khan knows that system and says the fault lies not with the classroom educators, but with those who are pointing fingers.

schoolroomUddin-Khan, who has a doctoral degree in comparative and international education, spent more than 20 years teaching in New York’s public school system. For 18 years, she writes, she was a well-respected and dedicated professional. But then her job changed; she was “excessed” — education-speak for being reassigned. No longer needed as an ESL teacher, Uddin-Khan was made a substitute teacher. Her three years in that position is the basis for The Other Side of Teaching.

For most of her book, Uddin-Khan details the chaos that she suffered through daily. Violent, disobedient and indifferent students and unresponsive and disconnected parents were just part of the problem.mind Worse, in her view, were school administrators and politicians, whose decisions were most often motivated by expediency or greed. She claims that administrators ordered grades inflated and problem students promoted or graduated, all in an effort to bring up schools’ test scores.

No Child Left Behind legislation, she maintains, merely moves these poorly-educated students to the next level, making them somebody else’s problem.

booksTo her credit, Uddin-Khan does offer some specific remedies, from getting cops out of the classrooms to separating politics from education to investing money in schools.

Overall, this is a narrative that will certainly give readers a different view of education.

Also available in hardcover and ebook.

For people who have never taught a classclassroom in any school, especially public schools, it is easy for them to become classroom and education critics.

It is easy for politicians to be on the outside, look in and critique teachers.

For administrators who crawl through graduate school, somehow secure AP and principal licenses’, spend a year or two in the classroom and then move to the principal’s office, it is easy for them to flex the power in their tongue muscles instead of their brain mindmuscles.

There were two failed businessmen in a certain high school who managed to get that principal’s license and thanks to well placed godfathers stepped into the principal’s office in record time.literature

One made no secret that he was there for the pension and the health benefits.

The politicians are in la-la land. Politicians need no education to become elected officials and yet they become experts on education policy and teacher evaluation.

Administrators, in most cases, supervise teachers with more education and experience than they have and yet must show their power by harassing and berating teachers at every opportunity.stick-boy-and-girl

Yes, there are “bad” teachers, perhaps one in a hundred. There are also bad doctors; lawyers who are swindlers and most politicians are synonymous with crime, lobbying and get-rich-quick deals. Compared to these people one bad teacher is excusable.

It is time for the media and the politicians Breaktimeto give teachers a break and concentrate on improving the education system. We are not hurting teachers. They all have masters and higher degrees and can and will survive. The day is coming when we will wish these teachers were back in the classroom.

flagWe are denying our children their birth-right, jeopardizing the future of this country, and hastening the demise of our #1 status in the world.

Without an educated population this country has no future.
