The roots of genocide and slavery are prejudice, racism, hate, discrimination, exploitation, oppression, and ultimately apartheid. These are practices of people suffering from an inferiority complex.

This very white country claims to be a moral Christian nation.praying_on_bible_red What branch of Christianity these murderers and slave owners subscribe to is a mystery? Their Christian practices are certainly different from the Bible or what Jesus preached.

Perhaps the pilgrims, the European killers and the slave owners – now known as white supremacists – wrote their own bible which makes their current practices moral and legal.

Prejudice, racism, hate, discrimination, exploitation, oppression, and apartheid are so ingrained in the white American psyche that it seems an impossible task to ever make equality a reality in these states.

Why aren’t white politicians and people at all levels of government out in the streets screaming for changes in this country? Why aren’t white church leaders doing the same? flagWhy does law enforcement have black and white laws? Why do they entrap innocent Muslim men?

The answer is simple. Congress and the Courts enjoy the status quo. In order to maintain the status quo prejudice, racism, hate, discrimination, exploitation, oppression, and apartheid must remain in place.

America is a white country built on genocide and slavery, and it will be a long time before white genociders and slave owners accept and tolerate black brown, yellow, red ….

For hundreds of years the white people of the world oppressed and exploited Asia, AgreementAfrica and South America. Western Europe and the United States built empires on the backs and blood of Asians and Africans.

Indians speak English and enjoy afternoon tea. Philippinoes speak Spanish. Africans speak English, Spanish, Portuguese, German, Dutch, French. In Central and South America they got Portuguese and Spanish.

Later, Europe and America did not have oil, so they annexed the Middle East.

Well, the world is changing. The Africans are moving north to every country in Europe. They have very little left in their countries. They are going where the riches are. Africans speak every European language and know their customs. They want jobs, education, health care and equality.

And then we have the kidnapped Africans in the US, better known as slaves. Unfortunately, they can’t move north or south. This is their homeland, just as it is the homeland of their former owners – slave owners that is.

The white imperialists / colonialists who oppressed and exploited three continents for hundreds of years are now facing a dilemma. the journeyThe black, brown, pink, green, red, yellow people of the southern world want their piece of the pie. It is pay back time.

The white people are fighting to the death. They are good at stealing but not at sharing.

Well, at least imperialism / colonialism are over. We still have oppression, exploitation and apartheid left in the white world and in America we can add the confederate flag.

Nine people died because of the colour of their skin. God gave us pigmentation, so how can we be guilty of, or responsible for, our gift from God?

Churches used to be sanctuaries where protection from evil or hunger was guaranteed.

Just imagine, but it’s hard to imagine, that he came to church with the premeditated plan to kill black people. Also, this kind of terrorism makes one unsafe and afraid to be “free’ in this country.

There is so much hate, racism, prejudice, persecution and oppression in this country that one wonders how America fell to the bottom of hell in less than 400 years.

We, in this land of immigrants and kidnapped slaves, don’t have to love each other (although Jesus did say to love your neighbour as yourself), but can’t we show tolerance and respect for each other? Can’t we accept the neighbour who is different? God’s creation all!

Nine neighbours, friends, colleagues, worshippers, were buried this week because of their colour. That’s a sad commentary on a civilized society in the 21st Century. But then again, this country was built on racism and slave labour.

These good Christians believe in racism, hate, prejudice, bigotry… Amen.

South Carolina: Perhaps the twenty-one year old white Christian supremacist terrorist will finally IMG_7839prove that there is white justice and black justice in the United States of America.

This terrorist planned for months and cold bloodedly assassinated nine people serving their God in church. It was a pre-meditated act of terrorism on people because they have dark skin.

However, the media, law enforcement and the elected officials are refusing to call this crime what it is: A heinous, racist act of Crossman co2 air pistolterrorism, committed by a white avowed supremacist man.

If a black man had done this crime, he would have been in chains. If a Muslim man had done crime, every news headline would scream terrorism, and homeland security, law enforcement agencies and the National Guard would be on high alert.

A white man kills nine people and one popular TV station that thrives on propaganda is trying to spin ways to justify his racist crime. It is reported that the police gave him a bullet proof vest, and he won’t be in prison, but in a Soul Food MGD©nice quiet psychiatric ward. Hope he gets his internet, chocolate and ice cream!

A man who plans for months, where and when to kill people does not need a psychiatric ward to rest his soul; he needs solitary confinement in Guantanamo Bay or Rikers Island where the guards know how to treat minority prisoners.

Two things are clear: This racist is getting the royal treatment and his trial will highlight the white justice / black justice legal system that rules this white land.

 The Other Side of Teaching, by Evelyn Uddin-Khan, is an emotional look at the trenches of education from a veteran teacher.

Uddin-Khan has a doctorate in comparative and international education, lending her book a broad perspective and deep insight, but the heart of her understanding is intensely personal.

The book examines teaching conditions, internal and external politics, and the shifting balance of power in education. The first two parts of the book share stories from her teaching experience. The third part discusses policy desksproblems specifically, but her experience is critical to her insights. The fourth part gives the author’s view of the positives of the teaching profession, such as the students themselves and friendships with other teachers.

It’s clear through her sincerity and intensity that Uddin-Khan loves teaching and students. But the depth of her love makes her hurt deeper. After years of service, being essentially demoted made her feel like a commodity to the school system—a system that she already felt didn’t give teachers their due respect. Her pain and anger are quite smudge-chalk-girlsunderstandable, but at times they overshadow the ideas she wants to present.

Her discussion of policy and problems with the system is best suited for those who have a relatively good grasp of the education system: She begins, “It is obvious that education policy in its present form is excluding the majority of poor and middle-income children from receiving the education they deserve.” For some teachers, parents, and concerned citizens, Uddin-Khan’s ire will fuel desire for change.mind

But those unfamiliar with the day-to-day realities of the teaching profession will find her experience eye-opening and even shocking (such as how verbal and physical abuse from students goes unaddressed by administration and parents), prompting the question, “It can’t possibly be that bad, right?”—a question that Uddin-Khan hopes will encourage people to take a deeper look at education.

Today is Memorial Day and across the country there are prayers for, flagand tributes to, the soldiers who gave their lives for this country.

In cemeteries flags and flowers remind the public of those who sacrificed their future so we can enjoy our future. The MIAs and POWs must also be remembered and prayed for.

Politicians (who make wars but rarely fight in them) will do their civic duties today and give great speeches and lay patriotic wreaths on soldiers’ graves everywhere.

Most of my neighbours (and three sons) are veterans and their plans for today include prayers and honouring their fallen brothers.IMG_0491

Memorial Day is a day to honour and remember our dead soldiers and that is how it should be.

On the other hand, we have forgotten the soldiers who returned and are still returning from present wars, for example, Iraq and Afghanistan.

We have approximately 500,000 veterans who are homeless. We have veterans with diseases and psychiatric problems. We have veterans who commit suicide daily. We have veterans who need rehabilitation into civilian life. (For example, education, job training and entering the work force.)

When these veterans return to America (after fighting – and killing – in some senseless wars) they are forgotten. This is wrong. They become a burden to country, family and society. This is wrong. The government used these young people in dirty wars and turned their backs on them. This is wrong.praying-hands-Pencil

Today is Memorial Day and we pray for, and honour and remember our dead heroes. That is how it should be.

However, it is a sin, a crime, and a sad commentary on us as a people and country to use and abuse the veterans who are alive, who served this country, and must now beg for food and shelter.

Today is the right day to turn our attention to those homeless veterans, those jobless veterans, those sick veterans. Let’s help them before another one commit suicide.

DSCF4284Memorial Day is a tribute to the past. For some of us, Memorial Day will have greater meaning if we also remember and care for those veterans who are alive, suffering, homeless and hungry.

May God Bless them all.

There are many reasons why the proposed methodsschool bus of teacher evaluation won’t work. Here are a few.

  1. Teacher evaluation is subjective. If the administrators in a school like a teacher then that teacher is an effective / highly effective teacher. If they hate your guts your fail the test. That simple!
  2. If administrators want to get rid ofwords older / experienced / expensive teachers and bring in young / cheap / newly qualified teachers, that is a reason for failure. Cheap labour is the key word here. (No offence is meant to inexperienced teachers.)
  3. Test, test, test! Very little teaching, but lots of testing. One teacher documented 65 testing and out-of-classroomschool closed days out of 180 teaching days.* Just think of it! That is 35% of 180 days spent testing and wasting student-teacher time.
  4. Grade fixing! The first time I was asked to “fix a student’s grade” was in 1992. The coach wanted this failing kid on the baseball team. I refused! Someone did change his grade because he did play on the team. Between 1999 and 2011 I was constantly in the administrators’ offices for my students’ low grades on English tests. They minddid not care that my students could not write a grammatically correct sentence in English. What they cared about was that the school should look good and continue as an “A” school. Do you know how many illiterate students in my classes received grades of 85 or 90? What I was doing was sinful, so I retired.

The point is – not teachers – but administrators and politicians do not care about educating our children. smudge-chalk-girlsAs long as they are passing with high grades that is all that matters. Teacher evaluation is allowing politicians to hide behind the problem.

An American college graduate (4 years) has the same education (knowledge?) as a high school graduate in Japan or Finland. Check the facts! What’s wrong with this picture? sZVNBOmc

So Mr. Governor, your present proposal is a waste of time and it is the students who are paying the price. For the world super-power we have the most ignorant high school graduates.

Unless you begin to do something about it they will continue to be ignorant graduates!
